YOU WERE NOT EMOTIONALLY SCARRED BY MOM AT THE AGE OF 3. IT WAS AGE 5. ( HA HA). QUDOS TO YOUR TIME. IT WAS STILL A GREAT FINISH. I WOULD STILL BE RUNNING…..1:20PM
Great job Dean! I have known you for many years and can’t imagine you will not be looking for the next opportunity to qualify for Boston. I’l keep your lunch Calendar open…
Like we’ve always said before, another marathon is always on the horizon! While you may not have qualified for Boston, you’re accomplishmet of a 3:30ish marathon is HUGE! Like Buzz says, congratulations are still in order!!
I’m very sorry that things didn’t go as planned today, but what we’ve learned is that the marathon is a fickle mistress. Even if you do everything right, she still has ways to reject you. Take the next few weeks to lick your wounds and then let’s start making plans for “Rick’s Spring of Suffering.”
Dean,
OK, so it wasn’t a Boston qualifier, but it was still 3:30 which is an excellent building block. If it’s any consolation, count me in for “Rick’s Spring of Suffering”.
Tim
Congratulations! 3:30 ish is great time. Sorry you did not make your goal. But those folks at Boston are clueless if they don’t think you deserve to run their PRECIOUS marathon. OK maybe I think the Boston Athletic Association is a bunch of snobs because I have no chance at qualifying. But I’m sure you will.
In the mean time lets plan on doing the golf course loop a couple of times in January. You know Myrtle Beach is right around the corner….

All,
Your comments are most meaningful. I was planning the next race as I ate the fine post-race food at Kiawah. Your confidence humbles and inspires me.
Rick, I am soooo in for the “Spring of Pain.” This time emphasis on more mental toughness, and meticulous pre-race nutrition.
