Czar of Fashion
I finally got some new trail shoes, opting to continue my affair with the Brooks Cascadia Pivot. I love this shoe, and not just because it’s colorfully garish. It really hugs the trails and is enormously stable. These shoes are just plain awful on the road, but perfect on the soft stuff. Worn casually during the break-in period, they elicit a lovely array of comments, some clearly not meant to be heard.
Honestly, I wish the design were even more bodacious. My pair is more green than the earlier-released chartreuse version, which I would have preferred. Nothing says “trail runner” like loud, obnoxious shoes. At least you’ll be found quickly if you fall off a cliff.

Your posts are incredibly witty! My goals aren’t as lofty as yours (being that I just want to finish a marathon at this point), but your blog will definitely amuse and inspire me along the way! 🙂

You *WILL* finish a marathon.
Keep me posted about your progress!

These shoes would look great at the Aiken marathon, given its close proximity to the Savannah River Site. Maybe you can get a nuclear radiation glow to match it?

They actually glow pretty well given the reflective material they sport.
The cool ovals on the front are reflective (can’t really see them in the picture). They look like eyes in the dark and make one think a predator is approaching (instead of signaling the approach of the lanky prey wearing them).
