He tells me if he were in better shape, he would be better off just followig by running a steady pace. Of course, if that were the case, he would have ENTERED THE RACE.”

Good Job. what is your finish NEED to be 3:10 or 3:15?
You will do well just stay focused on the pace.

Jason, I went out at about a 7:20 then reined it back. I actually executed my “go out slow” plan very well. At least that part went according to plan.
Cliff, I NEEDED a 3:15. I’ll get it another time, never fear!
