Now come on people. After a 'thank you' like that Dean deserves something. A round of applause? I mean Dean was about a paragraph away from a Sally Fields "they like me, they really like me" moment. I feel like at least one of us should give him a "you're welcome".

Really Dean, running, marathoning, and ultra-running in particular are selfish endeavors. Sure we can kid ourselves and try to convince others that our loved ones, and especially our spouses, benefit equally from our devotion to self flagellation. After all who's wife (or meterosexual partner) has not benefited from parading around with her 'arm candy' marathoning husband on her arm? Basking in the reflected glory of our runners physique? Okay, maybe that is stretching it, but thanks to me my partner did get to park in the handicapped parking spaces for a while last year, surely that counts as 'sharing', I mean she benefited too, right?

All kidding aside. Dean you've managed to take this selfish and Sisyphean pursuit of ours and use it to give back to the greater community through your blog. So for that, we thank you !! And being one of the lucky ones, I actually get to hit the trails in the dark of night with you and can personally attest you have proved the adage, my misery loved our company.

Now bring us back some good stories from Boston !
