[...] Over the past seventeen days, I’ve written a Socratic dialogue starring Obama, Hillary, and McCain, presented a Studio 54 marathon medal only an undertaker would love, and extolled the virtues of Cadbury Crème Eggs. I wasn’t ashamed to say that Bambi scared me out of my skin, and I didn’t realize just how many people had heard of the Duel in the Sun but hadn’t ever seen it. [...]

I've heard about this race I don't know how many times, but I've never actually seen the footage. What a great race! We're gonna be there in less than a week! What an inspiration!

Perhaps Marlene has given me an idea for a post. In the grind of daily postings (why did I come up with THAT idea), this can be most welcome...

I've watched this video over five times since I found it. It's that compelling for me.

These guys busted a 5:02/mile pace UP Heartbreak Hill.

That is a great video! Too bad they missed the part where Salazar actually passes Beardsley.

The race has changed a lot since 1982 - those guys were still just running for the glory of winning. Prize money wasn't awarded at Boston until '86. In '82 about 7,500 people ran Boston, you'll be toeing the line with about 25K other runners.

As you make those final few turns, you can imagine you are chasing down Salazar. (and this time the underdog would win)
